Airplane Art Sign – The art of renowned aviation artist, Stan Stokes, is beautifully portrayed on this heavy gauge steel sign. From Stan’s art print entitled Sentimental Journey the Connie aircraft, also known as the Lockheed Super Constellation, is displayed flying out of San Francisco around 1957. The Connie aircraft is often referred to as the “Queen of the Skies,” because of the luxurious airplane amenities. TWA retired its fleet of Connie’s in 1963 when jet aircraft became a better choice for commercial flight.
This exceptionally produced airplane sign uses American steel to construct the distinctive yet durable design. The process begins with a powder coating applied to the steel plate that is baked. This gives the sign its vibrant colors while providing a strong and sturdy finish. Finally rivets are drilled into the metal to make the sign easy to hang.
