Description
Airplane Decor – This Memphis Belle Armchair is stylish aviation décor. It starts with a 55 gallon steel barrel being used to create this impressive aviation chair. It is completely manufactured in the U.S.A. and is produced with the finest materials such as top grade fasteners, pressure treated wood, Sunbrella ® fabric, and powder coating as protection against the elements from the outdoors. And, it is comfortable! The 2 ¼ inch cushion provides seating support while the curved backing supplies lower back lumbar support. To add to the realism of the chair bullet holes are in the backing so no two chairs are alike.

Nancy’s Notes: There are just so many features to enjoy about this novel aviation chair! First of all, it is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. This makes the chair ideal for a rec room, aviator man cave, or any airplane themed room. Outdoors it is perfect for use at an FBO, hangar, or patio. Secondly, this is an American made product utilizing CNC cut components to insure top-notch and consistent quality. Finally, the Memphis Belle Chair is fashioned from a recycled steel barrel that has been repurposed into a fun and unique furniture piece.

The Memphis Belle Chair weights about 76 lbs., and it ships as a single piece.

I saw this item at the International Home Furnishings Market
I thought the design was unique, the lines were pleasing. It was highly finished in powdercoat, and had a number of bullet holes in the backrest ! It looked like it had been strafed by a ME109 over Germany . Well, I had to try it out, I had concerns about how comfortable a steel drum could be. To my surprise, it was very comfortable. The seat portion was upholstered in marine grade vinyl over a rather stiff foam cushion. The backrest was curved in such a manner as to support the natural curve of the low back, and gave good support. All in all, I think the designer / builder of this piece has hit the mark !
