Model Airplanes – This historical reproduction of the Curtiss Jenny Aircraft is a replica of the ones flown during the golden age of aviation. And, with a wingspan of over 31 ˝
inches it is an impressive aviation gift! The Jenny aircraft by initially designed as a trainer airplane for the U.S. Army during WW I. After the war there was a large surplus of Jenny aircraft, and they were sold for a song. Pilots colorfully repainted the Jenny’s, and this ushered in the barnstorming era in the 1920s when the public was introduced to civil aviation.
Our stunning replica is crafted in some of the same ways as manufactured by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company. It starts with a wood frame as the base for the fuselage, and wings. Fabric is then stretched over the framing for the “skin” of the aircraft. Handpainting completes the exterior of the aircraft, but it is the detail work on the aircraft engine, particularly the engine, wheels, and propeller that make this model aircraft truly exceptional. This remarkable replica is a great collectible gift for a pilot, airplane enthusiast, or discerning collector.
