Airplane Décor – This replica wood propeller is a stunning reproduction of the de Havilland DH-4 airplane propeller that was piloted by Charles Lindbergh when he was employed a mail service pilot. The de Havilland DH-4 aircraft was a light, 2-seater biplane. After WWI the U.S. Postal Service had one of the seating areas of the aircraft modified so it would be a water tight mail compartment holding up to 400 lbs. of mail.
We have made this gorgeous replica propeller even better. Now this decorative piece is it more useful with the addition of an eye-catching clock in the center hub of the propeller that complements the dark wood grain. The replica Lindbergh DH-4 Propeller Clock is handcrafted in the U.S.A. of laminated birch hardwood. It takes several steps to produce this exquisite reproduction propeller. It begins with the correct shaping of the propeller blades as the blades in the early days of aviation had a different contour than the propeller blades manufactured today. After forming the wood to the correct shape, several coats of sanding are done to provide a smooth surface for the application of the deep rich walnut stain. This is followed by a clear coat to help protect the wood’s surface.
The Lindbergh DH-4 Propeller Clock is also available without a clock in the hub.
