This replica model airplane is of the French Spad flown by Georges Guynemer. Guynemer was France’s top ace with 54 victories during WW I, and a National Hero! The name on the fuselage, Vieux Charles, which means “Old Charles” was the original pilot of the aircraft, but Guynemer decided not to change the name.
The detail on this Spad aircraft is so amazingly intricate. Just look at the shape of the propeller, the machine guns with gunsight, or the exhaust tubes from the engine. Not to mention the landing gear with wheel spokes. All beautifully handcrafted. This historical reproduction of the Spad is second to none, and is truly a fantastic collectible.
