This wood airplane sign of the Beech 18 aircraft looks like a real antique sign from a bygone era often referred to as the golden age of flight. The Beechcraft 18 plane, as the sign says was both a civilian aircraft and warbird. Production of the Beech 18 began in 1937 and the aircraft was very popular with charter operations. It was also a common carrier in Canada since the landing gear was interchangeable with ski and float plane gear. When WW II began the Beech 18 was quickly converted for military operation with the Beech 18S model. Production ceased in November of 1969 and at that time over 9,000 aircraft had been manufactured.
Our wood Beech 18 sign is all made in the U.S.A. The vintage looking sign is produced using reclaimed alder and hemlock woods. Using the classic tongue and grove method keeps the individual planks locked together. Each sign is printed directly on distressed wood with natural imperfections giving the sign a rich, antique style. The wood sign is about 1 inch thick and is available in 2 sizes. The standard size sign measures about 32" by 11" with the large sign measuring about 40" x 14". There is a keyhole slot on the back of the sign for easy hanging. The sign may be ordered as shown or with personalization.
