This Wright Flyer Model Airplane is a scale model of the original Wright Flyer airplane flown at Kitty Hawk. The Wright Flyer Model Airplane is crafted from wood and is an impressive aviation gift. The Wright Flyer model aircraft arrives fully assembled and includes a display stand.

The Wright Flyer sometimes referred to as Flyer I or Kitty Hawk, was the first powered aircraft designed and built by the Wright brothers. The flight on December 17, 1903 was recognized by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, as the “first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air powered flight.” The Wright Flyer was a canard biplane meaning that the pilot flew lying on his stomach and steered by moving a cradle attached to his hips. The first flight lasted 12 seconds for a distance of 120 feet with Orville at the controls.

This authentic, extraordinary replica of the original aircraft has been faithfully reproduced with kiln dried Philippine mahogany wood. Each model is meticulously carved, hand sanded and painted following exact blueprint details of the original aircraft. The result is a handsome, wood airplane sculpture to be admired and enjoyed.

Very Nice!

Good quality model of the Wright Flyer. Details are well executed and the whole thing came very well packaged. Once assembled it is a great model.

The only downside is that there were no assmbly instructions for mounting the Flyer on the stand and getting the pilot inserted on to the lower wing. The pilot insertion isn't difficult, just fussy. Needle nose plyers are a big help if you have large hands. The mounting on the stand was more of a problem as there is a very small clip that has to be inserted just so. Again, not a problem but instructions would be nice to avoid trial and error. Thats why I gave it four stars.
ProsGreat model Nice details
ConsSome fussy assembly required
