The Hercules Gunship aircraft is a variant of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft manufacturered by Lockheed Martin. Boeing altered the airplane so the AC-130 Hercules Gunship is a heavily armed ground attack aircraft. What is unique about the Gunship is that the onboard weaponry is mounted on the left port side only. This allows the aircraft to use a pylon maneuver where the Gunship will circle the target providing for a longer sustained attack than conventional attack aircraft.
