The UH-60 Blackhawk is manufactured by Sikorsky. It was developed as a medium lift utility and assault helicopter developed from the twin-turboshaft engine. The first Blackhawks won the Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System (UTTAS) award in the early 1970s replacing the UH-1 Iroquois helicopters. So far about 2600 plus Blackhawks have been built. The L model was built in the late 1980s offering more power and lift than the original Blackhawk helicopters.
