Vintage Models – This is an authentic replica of the 1937 Hindenburg Zeppelin Airship. This historic airship is best known for the 1937 disaster where 35 people perished after the airship caught fire while attempting to dock at the Naval Air Station in Lakehurst, New Jersey. This event spelled the demise of the zeppelin for travel.
The Hindenburg Zeppelin is created with exact details, and is completely handcrafted. Over 600 glue joints are used to craft the wooden frame. The fabric is then stretched taut over the frame like they performed in the earlier days. All the important specifics are shown like the engine pods, bridge, windows, and the identifying airship number D-LZ129. This vintage model is meant to be displayed in the air.
