Pilot Training - The Comm 1 VFR Radio Simulator helps master VFR communications. The Comm I VFR Radio Simulator is for student pilots that need to get rid of “mic fright,” Private Pilots that need to brush up on their radio technique, and "sim" pilots that want to learn correct radio procedures. The program is also ideal for pilots that infrequently fly into controlled airspace and need to refresh and update their communication skills. The VFR Radio Simulator works on both Windows-based and Macintosh computers. The software program, on CD-ROM, meets the requirements for AIM approved radio phraseology and has been reviewed by the FAA for accuracy.
The VFR Radio Simulator has over six hours of interactive communication training and 65 lessons and scenarios. The user starts with the basics such as learning the radio phonetic alphabet. As the user becomes more advanced "live" exchanges with ATC are recorded and may be played back. The lessons include:
